Pentagon Launches Investigation into Classified Leaks as Media Pushes False Narratives

The Department of Defense (DoD) has launched a full-scale investigation into a series of unauthorized leaks of classified and sensitive information, marking yet another troubling episode of national security breaches at the hands of an unchecked media complex.
In a memo signed by Pentagon Chief of Staff Joe Kasper, the DoD directed the Director of Defense Intelligence to spearhead the investigation, with polygraph tests to be conducted as needed. The directive is clear: those responsible for these leaks will be held accountable.
“This investigation will commence immediately and culminate in a report to the Secretary of Defense,” Kasper’s memo states. “I expect to be informed immediately if this effort results in information identifying a party responsible for an unauthorized disclosure, and that such information will be referred to the appropriate criminal law enforcement entity for criminal prosecution.”
The investigation follows reports from The New York Times, CNN, and NBC News that have fueled misinformation about national security matters. The latest example? The Times claimed that Elon Musk was set to receive a classified Pentagon briefing regarding U.S. war plans for a potential conflict with China.
This claim was quickly debunked. While Musk did visit the Pentagon on Friday, Chief Pentagon Spokesman Sean Parnell, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and even President Donald Trump categorically denied that he was given such a briefing. The Times also suggested that the meeting would take place in "the Tank," a highly secure room for top-level military discussions. In reality, it was held in Hegseth’s office, as confirmed by official photos released after the meeting.
This kind of reckless, agenda-driven reporting undermines trust in our institutions and endangers national security. When mainstream media outlets publish leaked classified information, they are not acting as watchdogs—they are actively working against the interests of the American people.
Prior to the Musk controversy, NBC News and CNN reported on a classified memo from Hegseth outlining top military priorities, yet another instance of sensitive information being leaked to shape a narrative. It raises the question: who inside the DoD is feeding classified information to legacy media outlets, and why?
There is growing concern that deep-state actors are working against the Trump administration, using leaks to shape foreign policy narratives and undermine America’s strategic security interests. These leaks do not serve transparency; they serve political agendas.
The investigation ordered by the DoD is a necessary step in rooting out bad actors within our government who put politics above country. The fact that polygraphs will be conducted underscores the seriousness of this breach. Those responsible must be identified, held accountable, and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Meanwhile, the American people must recognize the dangers of a media apparatus that selectively leaks classified information to manipulate public perception. The Times, CNN, and others have proven time and again that their loyalty is not to truth but to a political ideology hostile to President Trump’s vision of a strong, sovereign America.
National security is not a game. Those who betray this country—whether inside the Pentagon or behind a newsroom desk—must face the consequences.
