JD Vance Dominates Vice-Presidential Debate: A Clear Win for America First

In a debate that balanced civility with clear ideological clashes, Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) delivered a commanding performance against Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz during the first and only vice-presidential debate of the 2024 election season. Hosted by CBS News’ Norah O’Donnell and Margaret Brennan, Vance made an undeniable case for the success of America First policies while Walz struggled to defend the failed record of Vice President Kamala Harris and the Biden administration.

JD Vance was clear, composed, and consistent in articulating his vision for restoring American prosperity. Vance defended former President Donald Trump’s border security policies, which resulted in historic lows in illegal immigration and secured American sovereignty. Vance pointed to the chaos at the border under Harris’s leadership, emphasizing how the administration’s open-border policies have exacerbated the crisis and jeopardized the safety of American citizens.

“Harris has failed at the one job she was given—managing the border,” Vance said, highlighting the sharp increase in illegal crossings, drugs, and human trafficking under her watch. His solution? Restore Trump’s policies and reassert America’s right to control who enters its borders.

Vance also tackled the issue of skyrocketing housing prices, which have placed the American Dream out of reach for millions of families. He stressed the need for a government that prioritizes American citizens by addressing inflation and economic policies that benefit working-class families, rather than catering to the global elite.

While Gov. Tim Walz tried to defend Harris’s record and Biden’s economic policies, he often found himself on the back foot. Walz fumbled when attempting to explain how the administration’s handling of the border crisis was improving the situation, and his defense of Kamala Harris’s leadership was weak and unconvincing.

Vance’s dominance in the debate was so evident that even traditionally liberal outlets acknowledged his win. A survey by The New York Times showed that nine out of thirteen columnists and contributors said Vance had won the debate. In a CNN post-debate poll, Vance came out ahead by a narrow but significant 2 percent margin. For a Republican to earn praise from liberal media outlets is a testament to Vance’s strong performance.

What stood out most during the debate was Vance’s unwavering commitment to policies that put Americans first. Whether it was addressing the cost of living, border security, or restoring law and order in communities across the country, Vance laid out a plan that resonates with millions of hardworking Americans. He reminded the audience that under President Trump’s leadership, America was on the right track: the economy was booming, the border was secure, and American interests were prioritized on the world stage.

In contrast, Vance pointed out the failures of the Biden-Harris administration, from their disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan to their mishandling of the economy and energy policies that have hurt everyday Americans. Vance made it clear that a return to Trump’s policies is the solution to fixing the nation’s current challenges.

As the vice-presidential candidates squared off, it became clear that JD Vance is the one who stands for the values that made America great—strong borders, a robust economy, and a government that works for its people. Vance’s crisp and confident performance was not only a win for his campaign but a win for conservative values.

While Tim Walz tried to justify the failures of Kamala Harris and Joe Biden, Vance provided a clear vision for a prosperous future—one that prioritizes American citizens, defends the rule of law, and upholds the Constitution.

In the end, Vance emerged as the leader America needs, and his performance in the debate solidified his place as a champion for the America First movement. Conservatives should be encouraged by Vance’s resounding victory, as it demonstrates that common sense, patriotism, and putting America first are still winning messages.
