Before the November midterm elections, Democrats and Republicans are seeking ways to gain leverage on crime prevention ahead of President Joe Biden's visit to Pennsylvania.

Ahead of former President Donald Trump's rally in the state on Saturday, Biden will make his first of three visits in the state over the next few days. Biden's trip highlights the state's importance as a key political battleground.

Biden is scheduled to visit the White House on Tuesday and call out Republicans who oppose his proposal to restore a ban on assault-style weapons.

In the wake of the Buffalo, New York, and Uvalde, Texas massacres, the two parties worked together to pass bipartisan gun safety legislation early this year, but Biden has made it clear that more needs to be done.

He wants the assault-style weapon ban to be reinstated, including guns similar to the AR-15 that have exploded in popularity in recent years. As a senator, Biden played a prominent role in temporarily banning assault weapons.
