Archpriest Nikolai Kotelnikov Killed in Islamist Terrorist Attack in Derbent

Derbent, Dagestan — Archpriest Nikolai (Kotelnikov), a revered figure who served the Orthodox Christian community in Derbent for over four decades, was killed in a devastating terrorist attack on an Orthodox church. The attack, perpetrated by Islamist terrorists, is part of a series of coordinated assaults that have shaken the region.





The attack occurred in Russia's North Caucasus region of Dagestan, prompting authorities to declare three days of mourning. The assaults targeted not only the Orthodox church but also a synagogue and a police post, resulting in significant casualties. According to Russia’s Investigative Committee, the death toll has climbed to 19, including 15 police officers and several civilians.
