Ukraine appears to concede the control over the important battleground town of Lyman to Russia's rebel proxies after they seized the town on Friday. It's Moscow's biggest breakthrough in weeks.

In one of three directions from which Russian forces have attacked Ukraine's industrial Donbass region, Lyman, the site of a key railway hub, has been a major front line. Pro-Russian separatists claim complete control of the Donetsk People's Republic.

Moreover, they organized the operation correctly by capturing it and coordinating it. As a consequence, the Russian army has demonstrated improved operational management and tactical abilities. They have improved. There are places where it hasn't grown, but it has unquestionably grown."

“According to unverified data, we lost the town of Lyman. The Russian army—this must be verified— captured it,” Arestovych said in a video posted on social media.
